They made history as the first openly LGBTQ+ elected officials in the United States. The following year, University of Michigan student Kathy Kozachenko became the first out LGBTQ+ candidate elected to public office in the United States. These 3 pioneers of LGBTQ+ rights are now permanently recognized outside of Larcom City Hall with a Michigan Historical Marker unveiled Sept. 4.
