That is, until two police officers, Mario Farrugia and Michael Caruana, decided to breathe new life into it. With no official funding but plenty of heart, they took on the project themselves. Day after day, they cleared out years of neglect, restored the walls, fixed the wiring and transformed the space into a fully functional area. Farrugia and Caruana are working on another restoration project – this time an exterior one. Farrugia and Caruana are not only restoring a building – they’re strengthening the soul of the station itself.
