New Delhi: Over 8,000 families have been displaced and left without home after indiscriminate demolition drive in three districts of Assam, a fact finding report has revealed. “The demolition drives from November 2023 to July 2025 have affected a total of 8,115 families across Goalpara, Dhubri, and Nalbari districts of Assam”, the fact finding report submitted by Jamiat Ulama Assam said. The report further said that the Assam eviction drive carried during November 2023 to July 2025, has displaced more than 32,530 individuals, including women, children, and the elderly. “The demolition drive in Assam is inhuman, unconstitutional, and driven by religious discrimination”, the Jamiat Ulama delegation which also visited the affected families said in the memorandum. Urgent and expanded government intervention is essential to address the humanitarian emergency and restore justice to the displaced families”, the organization said.
