Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani is set to start Game 1 of the NL Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, per manager Dave Roberts. “Yes, Shohei is going to start Game 1,” Roberts confirmed following Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. While Ohtani will take the mound for the Dodgers in Game 1, he will also serve as the team’s designated hitter. It’s going to be a fun series.”The NLDS between the defending champions and the powerhouse Phillies is set to kick off on Saturday, Oct. 4. The Dodgers and Phillies are set to square off in the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
