A New Global Governance Initiative? At the summit, China gave a call to establish a new Global Governance Initiative, to make the world more equitable. Like BRICS, it often came out as a place to make dignified pledges about regionalism and bemoan the various policies and strategies of the US-led global order. Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin entered the SCO summit hand-in-hand and immediately formed a tight circle with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with warm smiles for the optics. Lavrov was referring to the recent bonhomie displayed by the leaders of the three countries at the SCO summit.
