The latest Gaza Ceasefire resolution was backed by 14 of the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Besides the United States, the other UNSC permanent members are Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom. While the status of the permanent members does not change, the UNSC non-permanent members are elected for a two year term. The US, at its shameless best, opposed because of which the UNSC resolution was defeated.
