Triple murderer Erin Patterson, convicted over killing family members with mushroom-laced meals, will appeal her guilty verdict.
Patterson’s barrister has confirmed the move during an administrative hearing in Victoria’s Supreme Court on Thursday, but did not outline the grounds of the appeal.
Patterson’s appeal period was due to expire at 11.59pm on Monday, but her new barrister, Richard Edney, on Thursday applied in the Victorian Supreme Court for an extension.
The Director of Public Prosecutions is yet to decide whether it will appeal Patterson’s sentence, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Payne was originally jailed for 16 years but successfully reduced her sentence on appeal down to 12 years.
