Albany roller derby teams took on the best in the State at the West Coast Invitational in Perth over the long weekend, with the Great Southern Breakers winning two of their three matches. The club’s junior team, the Albany Riptides, went up against West Coast Junior Roller Derby in a modified low-contact game, and fell just short of a win after a hard-fought match, with final scores 177-138. Now home in the Great Southern after the excitement of State competition, the Albany Roller Derby’s final game of the 2025 season is fast approaching, with teams taking to the track for a final battle on October 18. “Overall, it was an outstanding weekend of competition, growth, and community for Albany Roller Derby, and the club is already looking forward to returning to the Invitational in 2026,” Jarvis said.
