['Lewis Clarke']
Somerset Live - frontpage
Visitors were transported back more than a thousand years for a dramatic day of Viking battles, ancient crafts and birds of prey at The Bishop’s Palace.
The family-friendly event took place on Saturday, September 13, and featured immersive living history experiences, including combat displays and hands-on craft demonstrations.
Draca Beordor, a Somerset-based award-winning Viking re-enactment group, set up camp on the Palace grounds, showcasing life in the 9th and 10th centuries.
From weaponry and combat techniques to traditional Viking skills, the group aimed to give visitors a deeper understanding of Norse culture.
The full day’s schedule ran from 9.30am to 5.30pm, concluding with the closure of the living history camp at 4.30pm.
