Those workers might need help getting food during the shutdown, potentially straining local food banks.
Here’s a rundown of how the shutdown is affecting federal services in and around the Longview area.
Airport securityAt the East Texas Regional Airport, Transportation Security Administration workers will continue showing up to safeguard passengers, but they won’t be paid during the shutdown, said Max Tovar, the airport director.
Veterans servicesThe Longview VA Clinic and the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport will continue to serve veterans during the shutdown, VA officials said Wednesday.
