Evans said growth continues to define Wake County, but noted a striking demographic shift. “That’s a first for Wake County,” Evans said. Evans, who serves on transportation boards for CAMPO and GoTriangle, pointed to progress since voters approved the Wake Transit Plan in 2017. Wake County contributed $743 million this year to support public schools, the largest local supplement in North Carolina. “Wake County’s nearly 5,000 employees improve every corner of our county,” Evans said.
