Former Zebulon Commissioner Beverly Clark corroborated claims this week of a hostile work environment in town hall leading up to the resignations of former town manager Gilbert Todd and assistant town manager Kellianne Williams in April. Into that atmosphere, interim manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba moved forward with filling the newly created assistant manager position before the permanent manager was even chosen. “The Board, even though they had no authority over the hiring of the Assistant Town Manager, were irritated that Interim Manager Jaiyeoba moved forward with hiring the Assistant Town Manager before they had the opportunity to hire a Manager,” Clark said. “They were slow to make a decision on Town Manager because in my opinion, none of those candidates seemed to fit their criteria of being a puppet,” she said. “My fellow board members, long before Manager Todd and Assistant Manager Williams, would try to interfere with personnel.
