Like the first time, the details on how this will be implemented, enforced, and maintained remain unknown. In his posts on his Truth Social Account, Trump has personally lambasted California governor Gavin Newsom for his alleged role in how America’s film industry has been operating in relation to foreign industries and necessitating these tariffs. However, it is doubtful that any tariffs on international films in any form would actually accomplish Trump’s supposed wish for revitalizing the American film industry. Simply putting tariffs on international productions or their distributions would not be enough to cause a sea change that leads to increased homeland production.
