GRANITE FALLS — Looking to meet a growing demand by rural residents as well as many small, rural communities for water, Lincoln Pipestone Rural Water is embarking on a three-year, $43.2 million project to add new water sources, and build new water treatment and storage, pipeline and pumping stations. Lincoln Pipestone Rural Water had been using a reverse osmosis water treatment plant in New Holland, but has stopped its use there, he added. They are also looking at the economics associated with maintaining, building and operating their own water treatment systems, and find the water system to be an economically viable option. It also has an agreement to obtain water from the Osceola County Rural Water System in Iowa for water.
