In January, the UMD women’s hockey team will head to Belfast, Northern Ireland to take part in the 2026 Belfast Friendship Series – but now, the UMD men’s squad will head there as well. UMD men’s hockey will head to Belfast in November of 2026 in a pool that includes the Bulldogs, UConn, Providence and Colgate. UMD is now the only school to have both their men’s and women’s programs invited to the friendship series. The Bulldogs will become just the second National College Hockey Conference team to have been invited to Belfast – Miami University (Ohio) will become the first in November of 2025.
