The Welsh Blood Service has launched its University of Lifesavers campaign, calling on students, staff, and the wider university community across Wales to donate blood and join the stem cell registry. Alan Prosser, director of the Welsh Blood Service, said: "We are facing a generational divide in blood donation, which presents significant challenges as we look to the future. "We need more young people to become blood donors and join our stem cell registry to ensure we can meet demand and save lives for generations to come." The service collects around 100,000 blood donations each year to supply 19 hospitals across Wales. Swansea University has contributed nearly 3,000 donations since 2019, potentially saving almost 9,000 lives.
