Concerns raised over TfW's new Pay As You Go scheme
['Jo Barnes']
South Wales Argus | News
Introduced last year, the scheme allows passengers to tap in and out on TfW and Cross Country train journeys only.
However, those using the scheme on other trains face penalties.
Baroness Bloomfield of Hinton Waldrist, shadow parliamentary-under secretary of state for Wales, raised concerns with TfW after public worries were aired.
"However, I am concerned that some passengers, through no fault of their own, have faced being financially penalised because they were unaware that the payment scheme only extends to certain train operators."
She said: “TfW needs to launch a more visible campaign to raise greater awareness of how this payment method actually works, before more people are impacted.”
