Unionville murder and arson case certified to Division One court

A Unionville man charged in Putnam County with felony second-degree murder connected to a May 24 fire in Unionville had his case advanced to Circuit Court Division One on September 23.
Court records indicate that 73-year-old Danny Gilworth is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Division One on September 24.
In addition to the murder charge, Gilworth faces felony counts of armed criminal action, second-degree arson, unlawful use of a weapon by exhibiting, and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
He is also accused of displaying a rifle in a threatening manner and attempting to obstruct his prosecution for second-degree murder by means of arson.
A spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety said investigators identified the bathroom as the fire’s probable point of origin.
