DULUTH — Duluth native Kaenan Smith has verbally committed to man the crease at Minnesota Duluth, bolstering the Bulldogs' prospect pool of future goaltenders. The 17-year-old Smith is one of three goaltenders verbally committed to UMD along with 19-year-old A.J. ADVERTISEMENTThe 2025-26 Bulldogs will have two sophomore goaltenders — with Chicago Blackhawks draft pick Adam Gajan as the initial starter — and one freshman. More Bulldogs hockey news:Smith played one season of Minnesota high school hockey in 2023-24 as a freshman at Duluth Marshall, posting a .934 save percentage and 2.16 GAA in 19 games, but Reyelts got the nod on the Duluth News Tribune’s All-Area Team that season over Smith. Bulldogs assistant coach Cody Chupp was on the coaching staff of Team USA.
