The director of Slovakia’s intelligence service (SIS), Pavol Gašpar, plagiarised his diploma thesis on corruption, the daily Sme reported. The thesis, titled Criminal Aspects of the Penalty of Corruption, is freely accessible in the Pan-European University library, where Gašpar graduated in 2011. According to Sme, two-thirds of the work were copied from four different sources, two of which were not cited at all. “My diploma and bachelor’s theses are in order; the committee assessed them and I defended them,” Gašpar told the paper. Smer used to criticise such practicesThe plagiarism allegations come as Gašpar himself faces corruption suspicions.
