Over 400,000 PIP claimants could be owed money due to DWP error

However, the latest data published in the 2024/25 Fraud and Error in the Benefit System report suggests that 11 percent of claimants are under-claiming PIP due to unreported changes in their circumstances.
The amount of unclaimed eligibility for PIP was £1,060m (4.1 percent), compared to £870m (£4 percent) in 2023/24.
The DWP attributed all unclaimed eligibility to claimants "failing to inform the Department they needed more help, or their condition had deteriorated."
The report indicates that £25.8bn was spent on PIP last year, a significant increase from the £21.6bn spent in 2023/24.
So, if you've recently moved house or changed your doctor, don't delay in reporting the change - particularly if you're a PIP recipient living in Scotland.
