On Tuesday, Jessica Ronan-Frisch, associate director of the Center for Youth Political Participation, and Kristoffer Shields, director of the Eagleton Center on the American Governor (CAG), spoke during a voting rights event hosted by the Rutgers School of Social Work. The event began with a short clip about the history of voting rights and laws in America. The video said that all citizens have the right to vote, but the U.S. has a history of discriminatory practices. Ronan-Frisch then prefaced the discussion by reminding the attendees that the New Jersey gubernatorial election is this November. She said that she leads the RU Voting National program, which was established to assist students with voter registration, voter vocalization, voter education and civic education.
