(OSV News) — Pope Leo XIV turns 70 on Sept. 14 and some of his closest friends in the Chicago-area will mark the day with him in mind, quietly.

“Oh, yeah, definitely,” exclaimed Father Lydon.
Going further back, to Pope Leo’s childhood, birthday celebrations were far more subdued, at least according to his brother John Prevost of New Lenox, a southwest Chicago suburb.
And they plan to send that photo to Pope Leo on his birthday.
