SIKESTON — Sikeston native and board-certified breast surgeon Sarah Edwards Colwick-Barnes returned to her roots Wednesday, Oct. 1 as the guest speaker for Missouri Delta Foundation’s Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon at First Christian Church in Sikeston. “What I'd like to do today is talk about breast cancer, hopefully, not too many facts and figures, but to give you an overview of the current trends and treatments and answer any questions that you might have,” Colwock-Barnes said before addressing the prevalance of breast cancer. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Colwick-Barnes detailed the tools used in breast cancer screening, including clinical breast exams, mammography, ultrasound and MRI. Colwick-Barnes concluded her remarks by reminding attendees that breast cancer treatment is a team effort.
