The Scientist Who Redefined HumanityIn 1960, young Jane Goodall traveled all the way to Tanzania to study wild chimpanzees. Goodall showed that the line between humans and other species wasn’t as defined as we once believed it to be. In 1977, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute to continue her work with chimpanzees and to teach the world about her work and why it is important. Goodall was scheduled to deliver the keynote speech, answer questions from students, and take part in the tree planting ceremony.
