Ali Riley is a Los Angeles native and started her career playing soccer in Pacific Palisades, where she grew up. Riley played the next year at Bayern Munich, after which she came back to the United States for the 2020 season and joined the NWSL’s Orlando Pride. Despite being a Los Angeles native, she played for the New Zealand Women’s National Soccer Team (Football Ferns) as her father is a New Zealand citizen. Then, in 2007, she made the official national team for the Women’s World Cup. Riley went on to play in the 2011, 2015, 2019, 2023 Women’s World Cups and was a part of history when New Zealand won their first-ever World Cup game in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
