French soldiers have boarded a tanker in Russia’s “shadow fleet” and arrested two of its crew members. The 800ft tanker, docked off the coast of France, was allegedly involved in recent drone flights over Denmark. The Benin-flagged vessel has been blacklisted by the European Union for being part of Russia’s sanction-busting “shadow fleet” of oil tankers. Mr Macron, speaking in Denmark at a summit of European Union leaders, said the collective assessment was that Russia’s “shadow fleet” contains 600 to 1,000 ships. On the day of the Danish drone incursion, the tanker was off the coast of Poland, Sweden and then Denmark.
