As we have reported, the District 4 city council runoff ended with incumbent Presley Boswell and challenger Greg Palmer each receiving 183 votes on September 23. There was one provisional ballot cast in the race, which could have broken the tie. The next option was for city council to make the decision, or else it would be up to the Covington County Probate Judge. The city council decided unanimously that Boswell would continue in his seat.
