Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond, has issued a tough charge to the leadership of the Guyana Police Force, calling for stronger discipline, integrity, and accountability.
Addressing the Force’s Executive Leadership Team and Commanders earlier today (October 1, 2025), Minister Walrond reminded them that while Government has delivered record investment in infrastructure, mobility, technology, and training since 2020, “resources alone cannot protect the reputation of this institution; only integrity, discipline, and leadership can.”She warned against tolerance of misconduct, “Corruption must be dealt with firmly.

Be fearless in confronting it.”On discipline, the Minister was clear: “Leadership must be by example.
Affirming that public safety and trust depend on effective leadership, Minister Walrond declared, “This is the moment for decisive leadership.
