Christensen told officers the confrontation started hours earlier.
He said he watched his doorbell camera from work and saw two neighbors cut across his yard.
“I saw them in my front yard, and I thought one of them had a gun,” Christensen said, according to the report.
Police say video evidence instead shows Christensen yelling threats while chambering a round in the rifle.
The neighbors, identified as Raymond Holguin and Andreas Dontrell Garcia, admitted walking through the yard but denied carrying firearms.
