Local health officials are urging residents to make sure pets are up to date on their rabies shots.
Credit: Shutterstock / RossHelenBexar County is encouraging residents to be on alert and protect their pets after a fox tested positive for rabies this week.
On Tuesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed that a fox in North Bexar County tested positive for rabies.
“Thankfully, no human contact was involved in this positive rabies incident,” Bexar County Public Health Director Dr. Andrea Guerrero said.
“However, wild animals such as foxes and raccoons can infect pets.”In response to the rabies case, Guerrero and the Bexar County Public Health Department are urging residents to ensure their pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations.
