Wawasee FFA horticulture team takes first place

News ReleaseSYRACUSE — Wawasee FFA Horticulture Judging Team competed in the state contest held at Purdue University last week.
The team consisting of Katy Eppert, Coltin Bucher, Taelyn Tom, and Emerson Krull finished in second place, with Katy Eppert finishing as 1st place overall in the FFA division, and Cohen Tom placing 1st as an individual in the 4-H division.
Others participating were Anna Bowling, Sophia Higgins, Ava Mock, Payton Minear, Elizabeth Anderson, and Aiden Beer.
The team members had to identify 100 different plant specimens through four different categories, complete an 80 question general horticulture knowledge exam, as well as judge several classes of flowers, fruits, and more for market readiness.
