Mary’s central role in Catholic art and tradition

My siblings and I used that space for every purpose imaginable: baseball games, water balloon fights, Easter egg hunts. And right in the center of the garden was a statue of Mary, the mother of Jesus. I am thinking about that statue because on September 8, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in order to commemorate the entrance of Jesus’ mother into our world. There is a reason Mary is so central to our art and our traditions. On this feast day, let Mary’s remarkable faith inspire and strengthen our own.
