Scores of England flags have been erected on and around the Jigger Island in Brownhills, after a summer where huge numbers of flags were put up across the country. Photo: Tim ThursfieldThe island, locally known as the 'Jigger Island' or 'Tin Man Island', on the A452 , near Brownhills High Street, is home to the 'Jigger the Brownhills Miner' statue, a 40ft stainless steel sculpture to commemorate the mining history of the town. Now, the island has been adorned in scores of St George's flags, with the show of 'nationalism' drawing mixed reactions from many social media users.
