Several new laws take effect on July 1, 2025 in Virginia, addressing workplace accountability, road safety, education, and digital protections for children.
A new overtime law requires all state employers to pay time-and-a-half for hours worked beyond 40 in a week.
Other laws include the expansion of speed cameras and the elimination of legacy admissions in Virginia’s public colleges.
Under law, content creators whose content regularly involves a child (or their likeness) must maintain records related to the child's appearance in the content and the compensation generated from it.
