The extension until September 26 comes after an 'overwhelming' response from communities keen to participate. Councils across the county have applied to be included in the Community 20s and Safer Roads programmes. Community 20s has piqued the interest of 176 parties, while 174 have expressed interest in Safer Roads. Councillor Lisa Spivey, leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: "We’re absolutely delighted by the response." Both programmes form part of Gloucestershire's Vision Zero ambition, which aims to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2050, with a milestone goal of reducing deaths and serious injuries by 50 per cent by 2032.
