A 25-year-old man who fatally hit a safety flag worker while speeding through a construction zone on the Nassau Expressway on Friday had previously had his license suspended 7 times, according to prosecutors.
Authorities say Budhai then drove away from the scene.
In statements made to police following the crash, Budhai admitted he was speeding, in a rush to get something to eat from Dunkin Donuts, according to the complaint.
Nervous, but my intent was to get back there to find out what happened,” Budhai told police, according to the criminal complaint.
“She loved her family unconditionally and she could light up a room with her beautiful smile.
