Charlottesville City Council provided its first public feedback on proposed bylaws of the initial Police Civilian Review Board on Tuesday. Board member Sarah Burke said the board envisions a director who has investigative experience, such as an attorney, who could review complaints. Councilors and board members decided to consider what would trigger a CRB investigation, possibly by a timeline since the complaint was filed. Bowers said future CRB members need professional training to ensure they don’t inadvertently release confidential information. Board members reviewed which requirements it wants to say are necessary and others for recommendations for council to consider in appointing members.
