Hungary's MVM "withdrawing" from EU's FSR puts Romanian takeover at risk
['Romania Insider']
Romania Insider
FSR is a disclosure mechanism set in place by the EU in 2023 to identify non-EU subsidies.
As of now, Romania's Foreign Direct Investment Review Commission (CEISD) issued a negative opinion on the planned takeover and referred the case to the country's defence council (CSAT).
"Given the need to balance our costs and resources and taking into account the current uncertainty regarding the timing and outcome of the FDI decision, MVM has decided to temporarily withdraw from the FSR process.
We intend to resume the process as soon as there is greater clarity regarding a positive FDI outcome," according to the MVM statement cited by Ziarul Financiar.
The proposed value of the transaction also needs to be analysed, the Romanian body requested.
