Sales of such export-controlled weapons systems require approval from the US administration and formal notification to Congress before they can be officially offered to Estonia. «This type of sales authorization provides a legal basis for the US government and/or defense contractors to sell export-controlled products. It sets a maximum potential quantity, but the actual terms, such as price, quantities, and delivery times, will be finalized in the corresponding procurement contract. Authorization does not automatically imply a purchase decision,» Tuuli Duneton, deputy secretary general for defense policy at the Ministry of Defense, said, adding that Estonia welcomes the US decision.
