Madison Cawthorn, former North Carolina Republican congressman, announced his candidacy for Congress in Florida’s 19th district. He is running to fill the seat currently held by GOP Rep. Byron Donalds, who plans to run for governor of Florida. Driving the news; Cawthorn was the youngest member ever elected to Congress, serving North Carolina’s 11th district from 2021 to 2023. Recently, Cawthorn was arrested in Florida for failing to appear in court regarding a charge of driving with a revoked or suspended license. I want to make sure [the people of Florida] have amazing representation in Washington, D.C., because I know exactly what happens in the swamp.”
