A major headliner in the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon wheelchair competition dropped out of the race just days before it steps off after suffering an unexpected injury, officials announced Wednesday. Three-time Chicago Marathon champion Daniel Romanchuk withdrew from the competition after suffering a shoulder injury during an on-course collision with a spectator at this year's TCS Sydney Marathon, organizers said in a release. WATCH HERE WATCH HERE“I’m incredibly disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon next week due to a recently sustained shoulder injury,” Romanchuk said in a statement. Romanchuk and his biggest rival Marcel Hug were set to face off in another epic battle in this year's race. The 2025 Chicago Marathon is set to take place on Oct. 12.
