Rockers from the old and new worlds of the genre are coming together for a good cause. The bill will feature an A-list cast of musicians performing the classic self-titled debut albums from New York Dolls and The Cars in their entirety. Previous Above Ground benefit concerts have brought other big-named rockers to the stage together for a good cause, including the Velvet Underground, David Bowie and The Stooges. The Above Ground website also has a MusiCares statement, noting, "MusiCares helps the humans behind music because music gives so much to the world. Offering preventive, emergency, and recovery programs, MusiCares is a safety net supporting the health and welfare of the music community."
