Lloyd threatened to burn down farms, as well as the entire village of Pontrobert, during what was described as a period when his “life had fallen apart”. “Residents from the village heard this and came over and the defendant said ‘I’ll firebomb the village’. That involved voice notes that turned threatening, Mrs Tench said, with Lloyd saying he would “smash” Mr Hassall’s face with a hammer.
