BEDFORD – A Bedford woman with a prior conviction for intoxicated driving was arrested early Sunday morning after she was observed failing to maintain her lane and driving with non-functioning license plate lights. Deputy Martin initiated a traffic stop, and the driver continued into the McDonald’s parking lot at 3302 16th Street before coming to a stop. As Chilton spoke, Deputy Martin immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her person. Following the tests, Chilton submitted to a preliminary breath test, which registered a blood alcohol content of 0.185. more than twice the legal limit in Indiana, which is 0.08. After being read her Miranda and Implied Consent rights, Chilton agreed to a blood draw at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
