Delia had entered the PN leadership race after previously serving as PN leader from 2017 to 2020. In an interview with Times of Malta, Delia stated that there is currently no vacancy for the deputy leadership role and that speculating about it would imply an attempt to unseat the current deputy leader, Alex Perici Calascione, which he does not wish to do. ADVERTISEMENTPressed on whether this meant he was uninterested in any PN leadership role, Delia clarified that he is not interested in contesting another internal election. Asked whether he might consider a leadership bid should the PN lose the next general election, Delia stated he is "absolutely not interested," but acknowledged the unpredictability of politics.
