(Photo: Reuters)US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order effectively providing a US security guarantee to the Gulf state of Qatar.
The executive order states that any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar would be considered a threat to the peace and security of the United States.
According to Israeli media, the executive order was signed the same day Trump and Netanyahu unveiled a “21-point plan” for ending the Gaza war.
Trump went one step further and guaranteed Qatar that such an attack on the country wouldn’t be repeated.
Netanyahu spoke to Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and apologised for the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty.
