According to the department, the arrests were made on suspicion of offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63, including overstaying, violating pass conditions, and illegal entry. “The success of this operation reflects the department’s continuous efforts to curb the activities of illegal immigrants and ensure compliance with immigration laws,” the department said in a statement. It further emphasised that such enforcement actions are crucial for safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining public security. The department also highlighted the importance of community involvement, urging the public to continue providing tip-offs and information on illegal immigrants to the authorities to support ongoing enforcement efforts.
