Comments for Evanston RoundTable
Evanston has been clear about its priorities: increase housing supply to improve affordability, strengthen downtown, grow tax revenues to support services, and encourage transit-oriented living.
The proposed 605 Davis Street high rise building is not about supporting developers; it is about advancing Evanston’s own goals on what has long been a barren and underused piece of land in the heart of our city.
Critics have peddled misinformation to obfuscate the benefits of adding much needed housing supply and property tax revenue.
Some have objected to the building’s height, yet 605 Davis is surrounded by high-rises.
605 Davis is an opportunity to act on them.
