Extra RCMP officers in Nanaimo have been stationed at Wellington High School and Nanaimo District Secondary School on Wednesday after police received an unspecified threat directed at both schools.
“We recognize the presence of additional officers at these schools may be uncomfortable for some,” said Ret.
Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP in a release.
“Please be assured that the safety of the students, the staff and the facilities is paramount to us.
“RCMP are here today following a report of an anonymous, unspecified threat potentially related to our school,” said principal Ricki Bartlett in the letter.
